Tiered link building explained

Tiering creates layers between automated placements and a target site. It changes campaign structure; it does not erase the underlying link-quality or policy questions.

What “tiers” mean

A tiered structure points one set of links at another supporting property rather than sending every placement directly to the primary site. In common terminology, Tier 1 sits closest to the target; later tiers point toward earlier tiers.

Why SEOs use tiers

Operators may use tiers to separate different link types, organize campaigns, or concentrate supporting links on intermediary properties.

What tiers do not do

They do not automatically turn low-quality or manipulative links into trusted editorial endorsements. Distance from the primary site is not the same as policy compliance.
